A Mothers Heart & Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day to all of the AMAZING Mothers out there!  I have definitely been blessed to have such an amazing mother, and incredible grandmothers.  I miss my Grandmothers terribly, but am so grateful for all that they have taught me.  My Mother and Grandmothers helped shape who I am today.

I am so grateful that I have been blessed with the family that I have been.  I know for many Mothers Day can be a rough holiday, they can be missing mothers, missing children, or not yet have had the blessing of being mothers.  There are so many things, infertility, miscarriages and divorce, illness and much more that can delay motherhood for so many people. I have been blessed with so much, but I am also painfully aware of how heartbreaking it is for many today.  One of my favorite talks, was given in 2004, in General Conference called a Mothers Heart.  Its a great talk for anyone to listen to, I am grateful today for all the other women with "mothers hearts" that have been such positive influences in my life.

A fresh new start...Weight Watchers here I come!...

I have jumped all in and made a decision to join Weight Watchers.  Yes, I know a lot of you think it is for middle aged frumpy ladies,...its not!  Maintaining a consistent weight isn't something that I am amazing at, it fluctuates wildly.  So this hopefully is the year I can get to a healthy weight and maintain it.

I have been scouring the web for healthy recipes, and meal planning suggestions, even created a Pinterest board to help sort my ideas, but I will admit it feels a little overwhelming.  Can't I just have my loaded mash potatoes, bacon, ice cream and Dr. Pepper and still lose weight?  Apparently not.  Super sad it doesn't work that way.  But I am trying to focus on why I am doing this.  I am doing this to be the best possible me, to be healthier and stronger and able to do anything I want.  Plus I want to be stronger so I am better able to help and serve those that I come in contact with.

Create your own MAGIC everyday...

Every year I try to find a focus or mantra for the year. This year I am focusing on finding the magic in every day.  2016 is going to be a good year, I have very high hopes for this year.  Sometimes I get caught up in the mundane things of the world that I lose sight of all the miracles around me.

I love the world around me, but I will admit the past few months I have been so overwhelmed with all the responsibilities around me that I had truly forgotten to stop and relax and take a moment to appreciate the world around me, and all of the daily miracles in life.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

Thoughts on the New Year and forever being a work in progress...

New Year, new resolutions, and new focuses.  I will admit that I set a ton of goals for myself, some are achieved and some are not, it is an ongoing work in progress, but that is just what life is.  Trying to improve as the journey of life unfolds, this picture is a place that is very important, it is the Houston Texas Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  This is place where I find peace and direction in life, a place that helps me focus on where I have been and where I am going.
