A Fresh Start, New Beginnings & Commitments, and No Excuses!
Hi My name is Ruth, and I have a problem…I make excuses! I also have an addiction to Dr.Pepper, but its okay, I consider myself from Texas (go Aggies), so it comes with the territory. No really, I rationalize why things don’t get done, or why my vices are okay. Yes it is true, I am very busy work and life, they keep me very busy. So busy that this blog, which really is something I love has sat ignored for far too long. Since I started the blog I got married, I got divorced, I had several jobs, I moved. In short, Life…it happened. My quest for perfection sometimes is one of my my worst faults. Sometimes if its not going to be perfect, I don’t want to do it at all, that makes me sound like a spoiled toddler, doesn’t it?Here I am 37 years old, definitely not where I anticipated being at 37, but you know what? I have a beautifully imperfect life, and I love it! I want to share my love of food, family and faith with you. Some of my greatest and some of my hardest lessons have been learned in the kitchen. It is one of the places where I feel like I can decompress, be me, and express myself though the creations that come out of the kitchen.
My goal is to go back to why I started this blog in the first place
which is because I love to cook, and I believe with all of my heart that the
kitchen is where the home truly has a heartbeat. I have been so blessed that
growing up our kitchen table is where so many memories were made. Around the
table we laughed, we cried, we prayed, we celebrated, we lived. Also around the
table our family grew, sister in laws and nieces and nephews all joined the
family. Some say that Love is the universal language, and I believe that is
true. I also believe that Food is a close second, and that when you cook with
love, miracles happen. It can take the most simple pedestrian of ingredients
into a feast for body and soul.
So please dear friends, join in the kitchen with me. Pull up a chair and talk to me in my kitchen, I’ll make you a cup of hot cocoa, and let’s visit.
